Jammu is the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir state in India.

There are many important tourist interests, they are given below:
  • Bahu Fort – Well renowned historical temple of the Goddess Mahakali overlooking the Tawi river which flows down the city.
  • Mubarak Mandi Complex — This complex houses around 80 government offices and courts and dates 150 years back.
  • Rani Charak Mahal — Located in a river bank connected with Toshakhana on one side. Amar Mahal Museum — Built with red sand stone amidst amazing view of Jammu horizons. Gallery of paintings known as the Naldamyant and a huge library is presented in this palatial building.
  • Dogra Art Museum — Located in one of the complexes at Mubarak Mandi, this museum brags of about 800 rare and exquisite paintings. A number of carpentary tools such as the bow and arrow of the Mughal emperor Shahjahan and other tools are displayed in the important section of the museum.
  • Ziarat Peer Mitha — This magnificent tomb along-with a mosque lies in the heart of the Jammu city.
  • Panch Peer — This is a dargah which lies at a stone’s throw from the Maharaja’s palace on the National Highway connecting Srinagar.
  • Dargah Garib Shah — Another one of the dargahs situated at Samba which is said to have immense spiritual powers.
  • Aap Shambhu Temple Sathrian — A self-made stone Lingam with a temple built on it.
  • Raghunath Temple — Situated in the heart of the city, this is an excellent temple complex in all of Northern India.
  • Gandhadharji Temple — This temple has life-size statues of Narayana and Lakshmi.
Reaching there
By air, Jammu has regular traffic flow from Delhi, Srinagar and other important cities. Indian Airlines and Jet Airways are the most prominent of the travels. Jammu is well connected with other cities and towns nearby therefore no problem in booking trains from Delhi and Chandigarh which are the hotspots. General Mode of transport are the local cabs and buses which offer regular travel between Delhi and other cities as well.

Planning your trip
Some places around Jammu are Katra, Kud, Patnitop, Sanasar, Batote, Mantalai, Mansar Lake, Sruinsar Lake, Akhnoor. These places range from approximately 50 to 100 miles of travel.
